Flare Network Major Upgrade Live — What’s Next for FLR Price?

  • The price of Flare Network rose on momentum ahead of a major mainnet upgrade.
  • The upgrade has been activated on Songbird and is scheduled for the mainnet on December 2, 2025.
  • Crypto gains and upgrade-related hype could push the FLR price higher.

Flare, a layer-1 blockchain known for interoperability and support for decentralized applications (dApps), is approaching a significant transformation.

The network, which enables users to leverage its ecosystem to utilize XRP in decentralized finance, is preparing for a comprehensive network upgrade. Could the price of Flare (FLR) surge as this upgrade approaches?

Flare prepares for a major network upgrade

Flare is preparing two critical hard forks as part of an extensive upgrade plan.

The upgrade has already been successfully activated on the Songbird test network.

On Wednesday, the Flare team confirmed the mainnet upgrade is scheduled for December 2, 2025 at 00:00 UTC.

FLR’s price climbed following the successful Songbird upgrade and in anticipation of the upcoming Flare mainnet release.

These upgrades form part of a broader strategy to integrate key components of the Cancun/Dencun forks, aiming to deliver a more efficient and cost-effective environment for smart contracts.

Investors and enthusiasts are now considering what these changes could mean for FLR.

Notably, the upgrades introduce advanced Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) features.

Co-founder Hugo Philion commented on the development via X.

Flare launched in a bear market. We shipped.
Flare emerged into a bull market. We climbed the MCAP rankings. We shipped.

Throw what you will at us.
We will ship and climb.

The goal of the upgrade is to improve performance, efficiency, and scalability.

Key improvements include the MCOPY opcode, which accelerates memory operations by enabling chunk-based data transfers.

The upgrade also introduces TSTORE/TLOAD (Transient Storage) to provide low-cost temporary storage suited for high-throughput applications.

According to the project team, these changes deliver critical capabilities and improvements.

Beyond supporting a more efficient and scalable dApp ecosystem, the upgrades are expected to lower execution costs and enable innovative protocols, including modular credit systems.

Additionally, the P-Chain will introduce dynamic staking fees that adjust based on gas usage and current gas prices, alongside upgrades to supporting libraries such as flarejs.

As a comprehensive overhaul, the upgrade positions Flare for a next generation of dApps.

It also contributes to recent interest in the ecosystem, which includes FXRP.

Price outlook for FLR

Historically, major protocol upgrades have often sparked investor optimism.

Such sentiment frequently drives price increases due to higher utility and broader adoption potential.

In this case, the successful Songbird upgrade may boost confidence and signal a smooth transition to the mainnet changes.

Improved scalability and reduced costs could attract more dApp developers.

This growing activity may increase demand for FLR tokens, which are used for transaction fees and governance.

Having risen from lows near $0.011 to above $0.015, and gaining more than 24% last week, FLR’s recent increase could kick off a short-term rally.

Whether FLR tests higher resistance levels in the coming months will depend on market movements and the broader price outlook.

The token previously reached peaks of $0.035 in December 2024 and an all-time high of $0.079 in January 2023.
