YGG SEA and Solana Ventures Partner to Boost Southeast Asian Game Development

Yield Guild Games’ first sub-DAO, YGG SEA, has announced a partnership with Solana Ventures. Under the agreement, Solana Ventures—the investment arm of Solana Labs—will lead a $500,000 private investment round for YGG SEA.

Following the investment, Solana Ventures will work closely with the YGG SEA management team to develop a training program focused on building projects on the Solana blockchain. The partnership will also connect game development studios with engineering resources to help launch new games into the Solana ecosystem. The primary goal is to accelerate game development and product launches across Southeast Asia.

Southeast Asia is estimated to have roughly 25 million esports and gaming fans, making the region a major market for gaming innovation.

After the announcement, Matt Beck, head of Solana Ventures, commented:

“Southeast Asia is a key hub for innovation in blockchain gaming, and we’re excited to partner with YGG SEA to build sustainable value for the region’s community and developer ecosystem. Game companies shouldn’t focus solely on monetization. Our plan is to create learning and development resources that generate genuine, long-term value in Southeast Asia and ultimately help bring the best games and products to market.”

Evan Spytma, CEO and co-founder of YGG SEA, added:

“Demand for play-to-earn games across Southeast Asian countries has never been higher. The core YGG SEA team and country managers have a deep understanding of the cultural nuances across this diverse region, and since early 2022 we’ve been building our scholar community from the ground up. This new partnership with Solana Ventures gives YGG SEA a tremendous boost, allowing us to provide top-tier resources to players and developers in Southeast Asia and continue meeting the needs of the region’s gaming communities.”

As a result of the partnership, YGG SEA scholars will gain access to more popular games built on the Solana blockchain, expanding opportunities for participation and growth within the ecosystem.
