What is AAVE?
Aave is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol that enables users to lend and borrow cryptocurrencies. Lenders earn interest by depositing digital assets into dedicated liquidity pools. Borrowers can then use their crypto as collateral to take out loans or perform flash loans using that liquidity.
Aave (which means “ghost” in Finnish) was originally launched as ETHLend in November 2017, before rebranding to Aave in September 2018.
The AAVE token gives holders a share of platform fees and also serves as a governance token, allowing holders to participate in decisions about the protocol’s future development.
