Social tokens—also known as social money, creator coins, or community tokens—are a form of cryptocurrency that represents digital ownership. Brands, creators, communities, and individuals use them to assign monetary value to their work and influence. Unlike traditional platforms that control both content and revenue, social tokens remove that barrier by introducing security and decentralization through blockchain technology.
Social tokens can be issued by an individual or an entire community. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) can be considered a type of social token in some contexts. With the rise of Web 3.0, social tokens are likely to grow in importance. They serve to reward community members, incentivize fans, and compensate creators directly.
Most social tokens are built on the Ethereum blockchain. Companies and platforms such as Seed Club, Fyooz, Rally, and BitClout have invested in social token projects. As with all cryptocurrencies, social tokens face regulatory risks, but many view them as a potential future for brand-building and marketing.
Your favorite musician, athlete, or influencer may not yet have a social token, but many are expected to launch their own soon. While you wait, here are several notable social tokens to consider.
1. SWAGG
SWAGG is the social token for the SWAGG Network. It grants access to community creations, participation in Forefront, entry to SWAGG Drops, and eligibility for SWAGG rewards. Token holders gain access to a private SWAGG Discord group and can propose and vote on community initiatives and governance decisions.
SWAGG is designed to promote collaboration, authenticity, and creativity among members. Holders can redeem community-made creations and provide liquidity on Uniswap using SWAGG. Access requirements include holding at least 400 SWAGG in a MetaMask wallet to enter the community, and 10,000 SWAGG is required to participate in future governance.
The token was minted on Roll and originally had a total supply of 10 million with a 1,299-day vesting schedule. One million tokens are reserved for community contributions and rewards, and two million are set aside for community distribution. Over 7 million tokens are currently in circulation. At the time of writing, SWAGG trades around $0.043, with an all-time high (ATH) of $0.26 reached in September 2020, and a market capitalization near $330,843.
2. BAEPAY
BAEPAY is a social token created on Ethereum by BAE, a platform founded in 2018 as an early marketplace for crypto art. BAE operates as an open platform for avant-garde, underground, and outsider artists to showcase their work on the Ethereum blockchain.
BAEPAY functions as a rewards and governance token and can be used for payments within the platform. It aims to reward both liquidity providers and artists to support a stable ecosystem. The total supply is 10 million, with over 5 million currently circulating and a market capitalization around $256,616.
3. Rally (RLY)
RLY is the social token for the Rally Network, launched on Ethereum. Rally enables creators, brands, and communities to issue their own social currencies, giving fans access to benefits and experiences. Rally operates as an Ethereum sidechain designed for creators to build digital economies.
The platform offers easy integration with other services, supports fan authentication and blockchain exploration, and focuses on openness, compatibility, and security. Rally allows creators to facilitate transactions, control access, and develop economic models without charging creation fees or requiring initial liquidity. It is also built to be environmentally considerate and supports card payments.
Fans need RLY to purchase creator tokens. RLY is listed on exchanges including Huobi Global, KuCoin, Coinbase Exchange, MEXC Global, Gate.io, and Uniswap. Of a 15 billion total supply, about 2.3 billion RLY are currently in circulation. At the time of writing, RLY is priced around $0.22, with a market cap near $496 million and an ATH of $1.20 in March 2021.
4. Friends with Benefits Pro (FWB)
Friends with Benefits (FWB) Pro was introduced in March 2021 following interest in social tokens issued through Roll. FWB is a community of Web 3.0 artists, innovators, and thinkers focused on a decentralized future. Core community principles include shared identity, responsibility, inclusion, diversity, and well-being. Holding FWB tokens is required for community access.
FWB is among the most expensive social tokens. At the time of writing, one FWB costs approximately $46.40, with a market capitalization around $27.7 million. Over half of the one million total supply is currently circulating. FWB reached an ATH of $196.19 in August 2021 and is traded on Uniswap and Bitget.

6. WHALE
WHALE was launched in May 2020 by WhaleShark, a prominent NFT collector. It is the first token tied to a specific asset—the Vault—and governed by a DAO. The Vault is a publicly viewable treasury that houses WhaleShark’s extensive NFT collection. WHALE follows the ERC-20 standard.
The token’s maximum supply is 10 million. Allocation includes 10% to the founder and team, 10% sold privately, 42.6% distributed to the community, and 37.4% held in the WHALE Foundation reserve.
WHALE holders enjoy multiple benefits: the ability to rent NFTs from the Vault, purchase exclusive or curated NFTs, participate in community governance and DAO projects, and support liquidity mining for rewards. Holders also receive access to NFT airdrops, gaming channels, WHALE-specific airdrops, networking opportunities, and one-on-one interactions with WhaleShark. Compared with many social tokens, WHALE has diverse utility, direct ties to digital assets, and DAO governance.
WHALE is listed on Uniswap, Huobi Global, KuCoin, Hotbit, and Hoo. It reached an ATH of $52.37 in March 2021 and trades around $7.84 today, with a market capitalization near $57.2 million and roughly 7.3 million tokens in circulation.
Final note
In addition to the tokens mentioned above, other social tokens to explore include GCR, GENRE, YUP, and ALEX. Remember that social tokens are cryptocurrencies and therefore volatile. They carry investment risk, so only spend money you can afford to lose. Always do thorough research and trade responsibly.
