Tether Leads $10M Round for Cross-Border Payments Firm Mansa

  • Tether supported the $10 million funding round for cross-border payments provider Mansa.
  • Venture capital firm Polymorphic led the round, with investors contributing $7 million to top up a previous $3 million raised.

Tether, issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin USDT, led a $10 million financing round for MANSA, a company focused on cross-border payments.

MANSA announced the close of the $10 million funding round on Thursday, February 20, noting that the capital infusion will be critical to the fintech’s plans to strengthen cross-border payments by addressing the liquidity challenges providers face.

Venture capital firm Polymorphic Capital led the round, which also attracted participation from VC platforms Octerra Capital, Faculty Group and Trive Digital. MANSA had previously raised $3 million in a pre-seed round; the recent investor commitments added $7 million, bringing the total to $10 million.

According to details shared in a company blog post, these funds will be used to support expansion efforts in Latin America and Southeast Asia. Financing will also be allocated to build bespoke liquidity solutions and additional tools designed to bring more payments on-chain.

“By moving payments on-chain and leveraging efficient liquidity solutions, we address critical challenges in cross-border transactions—making payments faster, cheaper and more reliable globally,” said Mouloukou Sanoh, CEO and co-founder of MANSA.

Payments firm targets global expansion

Launched in August 2024, MANSA has grown rapidly and secured major partnerships within the payments ecosystem. Its footprint includes integrations with payment providers across Africa, Asia and South America.

The company’s growth translated into $11 million in on-chain transactions in January 2025, a figure representing a 574% year-over-year increase.

This expansion comes amid broader adoption of stablecoins, with USDT playing a significant role in many of these flows.

“By leveraging USDT for real-time settlement and instant payouts, MANSA addresses critical pain points for payment companies operating in emerging markets. We are proud to partner with MANSA and support their work to reshape global payments infrastructure,” added Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether.
