Terra Plummets 73% Today — Is It Time to Buy the Dip?

After its stablecoin lost its peg to the dollar, Terra entered a steep decline. The downtrend continues today, even more visibly than yesterday, when LUNA lost “only” half its value.

Terra had fallen to 14th place on CoinMarketCap, but today it has dropped as low as 29th. Is this the time to buy the dip before it’s too late?

If you want to learn more about Terra, whether it could deliver a good return, and the best places to buy Terra now, you’ve come to the right place.

What is Terra?

Terra aimed to stand out by using fiat-pegged stablecoins, claiming to combine the borderless benefits of cryptocurrencies with the everyday price stability of fiat currencies.

That strategy would have been sound—if its stablecoin, UST, had maintained its peg. Instead, UST lost its backing and depegged, triggering the crash that followed.

The algorithm designed to adjust the stablecoin supply in response to demand failed to prevent the collapse. It gave LUNA holders an incentive to swap between LUNA and stablecoins at profitable exchange rates, expanding or contracting stablecoin supply to match demand—an approach that proved fragile when confidence evaporated.

At present, neither LUNA nor UST enjoys meaningful demand. Almost all major exchanges have halted withdrawals, further limiting trading activity and market confidence.

Should you buy Terra today?

Buying Terra could be worthwhile if your timing and risk tolerance align, but it may not be the right moment for every investor. If you believe the project can recover, purchasing now is a risk you must consciously accept.

Always factor in your personal risk tolerance before making investment decisions. Price forecasts should not be taken at face value; treat them as one input among many.

Terra price forecasts

Despite the crash, some analysts remain bullish. CryptoNewZ projects Terra to trade between $78 and $85 per coin next year. WalletInvestor’s one-year price forecast is $151.

Coinpedia expects LUNA to trade between $132 and $257 by the end of next year. Gov Capital also offers a bullish outlook, forecasting a price around $166 in a year’s time.
