- Sony has partnered with LINE to bring mini apps to the Soneium layer-2 platform.
- The partnership aims to accelerate Web3 adoption by reaching over 200 million potential new users.
- Soneium, Sony’s L2 which launched its mainnet in January this year, will welcome four mini-games.
Sony Block Solutions Labs’ layer-2 blockchain, Soneium, has teamed up with LINE — a social platform with roughly 200 million active users — to integrate four popular mini apps into its ecosystem.
According to Soneium, the collaboration is designed to streamline Web3 adoption. Sony plans to leverage LINE’s extensive user base alongside Soneium’s scalable blockchain infrastructure to introduce mini apps to the network.
In its announcement, Soneium said the partnership will deliver new decentralized experiences to users in the coming months. The collaboration offers LINE MINI App developers strategic support including community building, marketing, and IP partnerships.
This support allows builders to concentrate on innovation while Soneium focuses on growth. Jun Watanabe, chairperson of Sony Block Solutions Labs, commented:
“LINE has established a strong presence, and integrating successful mini apps into the Soneium ecosystem is a natural next step to make Soneium more accessible. We believe this collaboration will drive engagement and adoption in ways that were previously difficult to achieve.”
Which games are coming to Soneium?
According to Soneium’s blog post, the first four game experiences arriving on the L2 via the LINE integration are Sleepagotchi LITE, Farm Frens, Moonveil – Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob. Sleepagotchi LITE is a mini-app game that lets players earn daily rewards without tracking sleep.
After reaching 1 million Telegram users in a month and ranking among the top 10 highest-grossing apps, Sleepagotchi LITE aims to broaden its global reach through LINE. Farm Frens, developed by Amihan Entertainment and backed by over $10 million in funding, is a quirky breeding and farming game that targets LINE’s Web2 audience with its Soneium relaunch.
Moonveil – Puffy Match is an L2 title using zero-knowledge technology, while Pocket Mob is a mafia-themed role-playing mini-app where players fight and form families within LINE.
LINE’s strong position in digital services complements Soneium’s vision for frictionless blockchain integration. By bringing these mini apps on-chain, the partnership bridges Web2 and Web3 — offering users decentralized benefits without added complexity.
Sony launched Soneium’s L2 mainnet in January 2025. Other partnerships for the network include agreements with stablecoin issuer Circle and the Bitcoin staking protocol Solv Protocol.
