- Sony has partnered with LINE to bring mini-apps onto its Soneium layer-2 platform.
- The partnership aims to accelerate web3 adoption by tapping into more than 200 million new users.
- Sony’s L2, which launched its mainnet in January this year, will host four mini-games.
Soneium, the layer-2 blockchain developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, has teamed up with LINE — the social platform with around 200 million active users — to integrate four popular mini-applications into its ecosystem. According to Soneium, the collaboration is intended to simplify web3 onboarding and broaden access to decentralized experiences.
Sony plans to leverage LINE’s enormous user base together with Soneium’s scalable blockchain technology to roll out the mini-apps across the network. In a Soneium announcement, the team said the partnership will introduce new decentralized options for users in the coming months.
The collaboration also provides LINE MINI app developers with strategic support, including community building, marketing, and intellectual property partnerships. This support aims to let creators focus on innovation while Soneium helps drive growth and user adoption.
Jun Watanabe, head of Sony Block Solutions Labs, commented:
“LINE has a strong presence, and bringing successful mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem is the next step toward making Soneium more accessible. We believe this collaboration will encourage engagement and adoption in ways that were previously difficult to achieve.”
Which games will launch on Soneium?
According to Soneium’s blog post, the first four game-based mini-apps to arrive on the L2 through the LINE integration are Sleepagotchi LITE, Farm Frens, Moonveil – Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob.
Sleepagotchi LITE is a lightweight mini-game that enables players to earn daily points without tracking their sleep. After reaching one million Telegram users in a month and ranking among the top-grossing apps, Sleepagotchi LITE now aims to expand its global reach through LINE.
Farm Frens, developed by Amihan Entertainment and backed by over $10 million in funding, delivers engaging farm-style gameplay and is targeting LINE’s Web2 audience for a relaunch on Soneium.
Moonveil – Puffy Match is a layer-2 game designed with privacy-preserving mechanics, and Pocket Mob is a mafia-style role-playing game where players fight and form families within the LINE environment. LINE’s dominance in digital services aligns with Soneium’s vision for seamless blockchain integration.
By migrating these mini-apps to the Soneium network, the partnership bridges Web2 and Web3, offering users decentralized benefits without added complexity. Sony launched Soneium’s mainnet in January 2025, and its ecosystem partnerships already include stablecoin issuer Circle and the Bitcoin staking protocol Solv Protocol, expanding the platform’s financial and staking capabilities.
