The French startup Sneakmart will bring its Metakicks NFT sneakers into the Metaverse in 2022. These NFTs will allow users to unlock a range of digital benefits and customize their virtual avatars, according to a company press release obtained by CoinText.
A vision for the Metaverse
Sneakmart’s vision for the Metaverse is to tokenize real-world sneakers on the blockchain. Users will be able to showcase their NFT sneakers within a growing online ecosystem.
Physical sneakers are increasingly popular as collectible items, underlining their broad appeal and suitability for digital representation.
Strong fit with NFT technology
Sneakers are highly compatible with NFT technology. The NFT market is now worth billions, and secondary market sales play a crucial role. These tokens are expected to become a key component of the Web3 ecosystem, enabling fashion trends to take on a digital form.
Sneakmart plans to expand its app internationally, add unique features, and introduce new limited-edition collections along with long-term benefits for Metakicks holders.
The team has developed 15 exclusive 3D animated sneaker models featuring varied textures, shapes, materials, colors and a 3D animated background. These designs will be sold through Metakicks boxes and are available in multiple rarity tiers: rare, super rare, epic and legendary.
Reaching a global audience
Tokenized sneakers will help Sneakmart reach a growing global audience of NFT enthusiasts and sneaker collectors. NFT holders will gain access to exclusive offers, merchandise, physical sneakers and other perks.
Partnership with StockX
Sneakmart has reached an agreement with StockX, the global leader in streetwear resale. StockX will serve as the official physical sneaker partner for the first drop.
The upcoming release will offer chances to win iconic pairs such as the latest Jordan 1 High, Adidas Yeezy 350, Nike Dunk Low and two pairs of Jordan 1 Dior.
There are also two Jordan pairs created in collaboration with Travis Scott. Every tenth buyer of a Mystery Box will win a notable physical sneaker.
Support from international footballers
Several high-profile athletes are backing the project, including Didier Drogba, Kingsley Coman and Marco Verratti, who have created a unique edition of personalized Metakicks. The lucky owner of that edition will receive VIP game access, signed memorabilia, meet-and-greet opportunities and additional benefits.
