The past few days brought several notable developments involving Ripple and its native cryptocurrency, XRP. From on-chain upgrades to high-profile recognition, here are the most important updates and a brief look at recent price action.

XRP Price Update May 27

Over the last few days XRP has trended downward, losing about 2.6% during the past week. This decline largely mirrors broader market movements, with some exceptions among other assets.

At the time of writing, XRP is trading near $1.32.

Performance figures show a 9% decline over the last two weeks, an 8% drop over the past month, and more than a 42% fall compared to one year ago. Like many cryptocurrencies, XRP has struggled to mount a sustained rally.

XRP Ledger Unveils New AMM v2 Standard

The XRP Ledger Foundation has proposed a major upgrade to the XRPL decentralized exchange in a draft standard called AMM v2.

This proposal expands the XRPL automated market maker framework beyond the current constant product model used in XLS-30 AMMs. Under AMM v2, creators of liquidity pools would be able to select from multiple curve types tailored to different market needs, including concentrated liquidity pools, StableSwap-style pools, constant product pools, and others.

The goal of AMM v2 is to improve capital efficiency, deepen liquidity, and enable broader tokenization across the XRPL ecosystem.

Ripple Eyes Tokenized Finance as Next Major Growth Vertical

Tokenization of real-world assets is gaining traction, and Ripple is positioning itself to capture a portion of that market. A joint study by Ripple, BCG and Securitize projects the tokenization market could reach roughly $18.9 trillion over the next six years.

That forecast envisions significant expansion from today’s estimated $34 billion market, implying the potential for substantial growth in tokenized assets. Ripple’s strategy centers on providing the “money layer” for tokenization, with its stablecoin RLUSD and the XRPL as core infrastructure. XRPL already supports a growing number of real-world asset initiatives.
