POPcat Surges as Kraken Announces Trading Support

  • The Popcat meme coin jumped more than 11% after Kraken announced a spot listing on September 19.
  • POPCAT price reached highs of $0.67 and was trading higher at the time of reporting.

Solana-based meme coin Popcat (POPCAT) climbed after crypto exchange Kraken announced it would add spot trading support. The cat-themed meme token, which had already surged nearly 30% following Binance’s listing of a POPCAT perpetual contract, posted double-digit gains on September 12.

When Kraken revealed it would list Popcat on September 19, 2024, the token’s price moved from $0.58 to intraday highs near $0.67. CoinGecko data showed the cryptocurrency rose about 10% and was trading above $0.66 at the time of writing.

Popcat is currently listed on Bybit, Gate.io, MEXC, Crypto.com and KuCoin. Major exchanges Binance and OKX have not yet added spot listings, though they offer exchange-listed POPCAT futures.

Krakenś decision to support spot trading is therefore a notable development. The token’s price reacted positively as the community welcomed another milestone in its push for broader visibility.

SUNDOG and CAT among other rising meme coins

Although the current price sits well above its all-time low of $0.003 reached on January 5, 2024, POPCAT remains more than 35% below its record high of $0.99 set on July 21, 2024.

The recent move toward the $1 level suggests a potential rebound for meme coins, with Popcat possibly aiming to revisit that peak.

Other meme tokens showing upward momentum today include Tron-based Sundog (SUNDOG) and Simon’s CAT (CAT).

SUNDOG rallied after a whale converted TRX worth $2 million and used the proceeds to buy SUNDOG. Simon’s CAT, which recently completed an airdrop to Floki holders, gained following a hint from Bybit that a listing could be coming.
