May 2 Highlights: Crypto Mixed as Cronos Plunges 15%

The overall crypto market is mixed, with most of the top 100 coins moving in a narrow range—gaining or losing roughly 1–5% at the time of writing.

Top Cryptos

Most of the top 10 cryptocurrencies recorded gains. Bitcoin was up about 2% and was trading above $38,000 at the time of writing. Ethereum climbed roughly 3%, while Cardano and XRP posted gains of around 2% and 5% respectively.

Crypto.com’s CRO slipped to #20, falling about 15% today. For much of the year the CRO token has traded at relatively low levels, and its price is now close to this year’s lows.

The exchange has sponsored numerous sporting events and featured Matt Damon in marketing, but that exposure has not supported CRO’s price.

Notable Movers

Outside the top 20, Tron rose 6% after reporting that total accounts on its network have now surpassed 90 million.

Fantom jumped during Asian trading hours, rising nearly 15%, and remains up about 6% at the time of writing. Fantom integrated Chainlink this week and announced several promotional giveaways today.

On the loser side, the main decliners are coins that posted large gains last week. These include Kyber Network’s KNC, down about 9%, and ApeCoin, down around 11%.

Trends

The day’s biggest winner is MetaPay, a token used within the Metaxion universe—a new metaverse. With MetaPay you can sell the packs and avatars you buy in the metaverse or convert them into MetaPay tokens.

A Metaxion demo has been released on the project’s site, and MetaPay is experiencing another rally, up approximately 1,069% at the time of writing.
