May 17 Highlights: Cryptos Continue Their Recovery

The cryptocurrency market is broadly bullish today. Most top-100 coins were trading in the green at the time of writing.

Top Cryptos

Bitcoin recorded modest gains and was trading above $30,000 at the time of writing. Ethereum rose about 3%, while BNB and XRP also increased by roughly 3% each. The biggest gainer among the top 10 is Solana, which climbed nearly 5% and was trading around $56.

Coins outside the top 10 were also in positive territory at publication time. Notable gainers include Cronos and Litecoin, each up close to 6%.

Top Movers

Beyond the top 20, the trend was similar: most coins added between 3% and 7% to their value. Standouts include Maker, which gained 12%, IOTA and STEPN, each up about 10%, and Kadena, which rose 13%.

These advances have erased recent losses. Kadena is planning to launch a smartphone app in June, which may have contributed to its rally.

On the losing side, Arweave fell about 7%, showing heightened sensitivity to overall market movements; it had been the largest top-100 gainer yesterday. Internet Computer’s ICP token slipped roughly 3%.

TerraUSD (UST) continued to decline, losing another fifth of its value today and trading near $0.12.

LUNA briefly spiked during Asian trading hours before retreating after protocol founder Do Kwon proposed a fork. He suggested creating a separate chain as part of an effort to offset the UST collapse.

Trending

The top performer today is Quarashi Coin, which markets itself as an all-in-one platform composed of multiple key components: a multichain crypto wallet, a decentralized exchange (DEX), a private chat for privacy, an IDO launchpad, airdrops, a browser and even a VPN.

Quarashi surged after announcing it would complete its private chat app this month. Its token jumped approximately 2,200% over 24 hours.
