March 7 Market Highlights: Major Cryptos Dip, UK100 Falls Amid War

The crypto market as a whole is down today. Ukraine has spent $15 million in cryptocurrency, primarily Bitcoin and Ether, on military equipment. It has received more than $50 million in crypto donations.

The UK100 fell more than 6% last week as the escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine triggered a sell-off across global markets. Companies with strong Russian ties were among the biggest losers, with miners Polymetal International and Evraz plunging 64.87% and 60.02%, respectively.

Oil prices have risen roughly 30% over the past week. They reached nearly $125 early Monday morning and were trading around $123 at the time of writing. Investors are closely watching the prospect of a U.S. ban on Russian oil imports, which could push prices even higher.

Top Cryptos

Solana is down more than 6%, while Cardano, Avalanche and Ethereum fell over 4%. Bitcoin traded just above $38,000 at the time of writing, a decline of about 3% in the past 24 hours.

Biggest Movers

Most top-100 coins lost 3–5% of their value today. A notable standout is Fantom, which dropped nearly 12%. Anchor Protocol fell 14% as the effects of a recently injected cash infusion began to fade.

Convex Finance continues to spiral downward. It has dropped 8.68% in the last 24 hours and 9.82% over the past seven days after a bug caused CVX to decline following a forced token unlock.

Monero has fallen 6%, reversing recent gains. Other notable losers include Zcash (-9%) and Chiliz (-7%). Waves continues to rise as a show of support for Ukraine, increasing roughly 2% today.
