The governance token of Lido DAO, LDO, saw a notable price rise following a substantial purchase by crypto veteran Arthur Hayes.
The former BitMEX co-founder acquired 1.85 million LDO tokens in a transaction worth roughly $1.03 million.
This strategic buy drew attention from market analysts and investors, renewing interest in Lido’s liquid staking ecosystem.

The acquisition, executed during normal trading hours on the main Ethereum network, ranks among Hayes’s largest publicly known token purchases since he left BitMEX in 2021.
Hayes’s investment choices are closely watched and have historically influenced sentiment across crypto markets.
Notably, the LDO purchase coincided with a consolidation phase for the token within a defined trading range following a wider market correction earlier in 2025.
At the time of the trade, LDO was priced around $0.556 per token, implying a total investment of approximately $1,028,600.
After the report surfaced, LDO experienced a near-term gain of about 6%, while trading volume spiked more than 200% above the weekly average, highlighting the immediate market impact of sizable investor moves.
Development Momentum and Revenue Strength
Beyond Hayes’s involvement, Lido has demonstrated robust fundamentals.
Development activity for Lido increased by 690% year-over-year, underscoring the protocol’s active engineering efforts and long-term viability.
Recent upgrades—such as executable withdrawals and Curated Module v2—point to ongoing innovation aimed at maintaining Lido’s leadership in liquid staking.
LDO’s governance structure continues to attract attention because it shapes decisions on fees, validator operator selection, and strategic upgrades.
Revenue performance further bolsters Lido’s position: the protocol generates $14.3 million in weekly fees, ranking second only to Ethereum itself.
This revenue strength stands out against weaker activity on many layer-1 blockchains and reflects growing adoption of liquid-staking derivatives like stETH, which integrate with major DeFi platforms such as Aave, Curve and MakerDAO.
Investors are increasingly drawn to Lido’s mix of yield opportunities and protocol resilience, even as broader staking growth on Ethereum remains moderate.
Lido DAO Price Outlook
Technically, LDO’s recent rebound aligns with short-term optimism following a global crypto Santa Rally.
The token is up 2% today, recovering from a roughly 14% decline over the past 30 days and contributing to a seven-day recovery of 5.26%.
Analysts note the immediate technical picture is cautious: the daily chart shows LDO trading above its 10-day EMA but below its 20-, 50-, 100- and 200-day EMAs.
Key support for LDO is identified at $0.5546, while resistance levels are set at $0.7126, $0.9416 and $1.24.
The 14-day RSI currently reads 45.65 and the weekly RSI sits at 40.76, indicating neutral momentum conditions.
Near-term price direction will largely depend on whether LDO can hold critical support levels while continuing to capitalize on strong protocol fundamentals and the institutional interest sparked by Hayes’s purchase.
Investors should monitor ongoing protocol updates, including the Safe Harbor Agreement designed to protect $26 billion in staked ETH through white-hat security measures.
As competition in liquid staking intensifies, Lido’s ability to defend market share, execute strategic enhancements and leverage governance decisions will determine whether short-term price gains translate into sustained growth.
