HYPE Soars Despite Altcoin Slump as Bitcoin Falls Below $77K

Bitcoin’s troubles deepened as traditional financial markets opened overnight, pushing the cryptocurrency to a fresh multi-week low below $77,000.

Most altcoins followed Bitcoin lower, with notable declines in Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), and especially Bitcoin Cash (BCH). A few tokens bucked the trend—HYPE and Zcash (ZEC) held up and even advanced amid the broader sell-off.

BTC Drops Below $77K

Earlier in the week, Bitcoin showed stronger momentum. The market opened with volatility on Sunday when BTC briefly dipped under $80,400 before quickly rebounding and gaining roughly $2,000 within minutes. The rally stalled, but by Tuesday Bitcoin had retested the $82,000 area.

That upside attempt failed and a deeper correction followed, driving BTC under $79,000 by Wednesday. On Thursday, sentiment improved after the CLARITY Act passed the US Senate Banking Committee, helping Bitcoin climb back toward $82,000. That move proved short-lived, however, and subsequent rejections were pronounced.

By Saturday the price had slipped below $80,000 and fell further to $78,000 on Sunday. After hovering near that support for about 24 hours, the market gave way on Monday morning amid renewed geopolitical concerns tied to recent threats reported from former President Trump. Bitcoin tumbled to about $76,500—the lowest level in roughly three weeks—and presently sits under $77,000.

Bitcoin’s market capitalization has declined to approximately $1.54 trillion on CoinGecko, while its dominance over alternative cryptocurrencies remains above 58%.

HYPE Rises While Most Alts Fall

Ethereum is approaching the $2,100 level after another roughly 3% daily decline. Binance Coin (BNB) has moved down to about $640 following a 2% drop, and XRP sits under $1.40 after a similar fall. Dogecoin has fallen more than 5% on the day, while Bitcoin Cash plunged over 11% and is trading near $365.

Amid widespread declines, two tokens stood out as exceptions: HYPE climbed past $45, and Zcash changed hands around $530. By contrast, Pi Network’s native token continued its slide, sinking below $0.15 and posting new local lows.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization dropped by roughly $50 billion and is near $2.63 trillion at the time of writing.
