Eric Trump Joins Metaplanet Advisory Board

Metaplanet, a prolific buyer of bitcoin (BTC), said Trump’s appointment is part of its ambition to promote BTC adoption. The strategic advisory committee will play a significant role in shaping Metaplanet’s bitcoin finance strategy. Eric Trump serves as an executive vice president of the Trump Organization and is one of the most outspoken members of the Trump family in support of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. The company said he brings extensive experience and commercial insight to the Metaplanet board. Metaplanet representative director Simon Gerovich said in a statement: “We are honored to welcome Eric Trump as the first member of our strategic advisory committee, and we look forward to his participation in our annual meetings.” Gerovich added, “His business acumen, enthusiasm for the bitcoin community, and global hospitality perspective will be invaluable in accelerating Metaplanet’s vision to become one of the world’s leading bitcoin finance companies.”

Viewing Bitcoin as a Wealth Asset

The new strategic advisory committee will provide guidance on Metaplanet’s corporate strategy, capital allocation, and partnerships. Eric’s involvement is expected to help solidify Metaplanet’s position as a leading global bitcoin company. Following its most recent BTC purchase on March 18, 2025, Metaplanet now holds more than 3,200 bitcoins. In the March 18 purchase, the company acquired 150 BTC for roughly ¥180 million (about $12.5 million). Eric Trump has also been involved with decentralized finance project World Liberty Financial and has previously promoted bitcoin and ether as top investment opportunities. At the time of reporting, BTC trades around $83,000, down from its all-time high of $109,000, while ether remains below $2,000, though some analysts predict it could rise to $4,000 by 2025.
