BTC, XRP, ADA Hit by Trump’s Response to Iran Proposal — Market Watch

After a relatively quiet weekend, Bitcoin experienced a highly volatile stretch Sunday evening into Monday morning, ultimately stalling near $82,400 following former President Donald Trump’s comments on Iran’s latest proposal.

Several altcoins attempted breakouts — notably XRP and ADA — but overall bearish sentiment prevailed across the market.

BTC Pauses Above $82K

Last week was broadly positive for the leading cryptocurrency. The week began with a surge to $80,800 on Monday, a level not seen in three months, before a sudden but brief pullback shaved off more than $2,000. Bitcoin quickly recovered, reclaimed the $80,000 mark, and climbed to a local peak of $82,800 on Wednesday.

After an $8,000 weekly advance, a correction was natural. That correction unfolded on Thursday and intensified on Friday when BTC dipped to $79,100. Still, bulls held firm and launched a modest recovery that helped Bitcoin regain $80,000 on Saturday.

The next 36 hours were relatively calm, but volatility returned Sunday night into Monday. BTC rose to roughly $81,500, dropped to about $80,250, then shot up to near $82,500. The rally lost strength, however, and prices fell back below $81,000 after Trump described Iran’s proposal as “totally unacceptable.”

Bitcoin’s market capitalization remains around $1.62 trillion on CoinGecko, and its dominance over altcoins still sits above 58%.

Altcoins Lose Momentum

XRP led gains briefly Sunday evening, rising more than 5% and topping $1.50 for the first time in over three weeks. Despite analyst optimism for a decisive breakout, XRP faced rejection at that level and retreated to around $1.45. Cardano (ADA) followed a similar path and now trades close to its previous day’s level.

Ethereum (ETH), BNB, Solana (SOL), TRON (TRX), and Dogecoin (DOGE) are all showing daily gains but remain below their peak prices from Sunday evening. SUI posted the largest daily advance among major tokens, up roughly 12%, while Zcash (ZEC) fell more than 6%. Other tokens, including HYPE and Uniswap (UNI), are trading lower.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization slipped to about $2.78 trillion on CoinGecko after peaking near $2.83 trillion Sunday evening.
