- Bitwise announced that it has listed a Solana staking ETP on the Xetra trading venue.
- The ETP is traded under the ticker BOSL on Deutsche Börse XETRA.
- Bitwise recently filed for a spot Solana ETF in the United States.
According to a press release dated December 18, asset manager Bitwise has launched an exchange-traded Solana staking product for investors in the European Union.
The Bitwise Solana Staking ETP offers staking rewards with relatively low fees compared with other similar products available in the EU.
Solana ETP goes live on XETRA
Bitwise announced the launch of the Solana staking ETP on December 18, 2024. The announcement states the product will trade under the ticker BOSL on Deutsche Börse XETRA. The listing arrives while the crypto index fund manager continues to await regulatory approval to offer a Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the United States. Availability on Xetra gives European investors an opportunity to participate in staked SOL, the firm said.
“Solana is one of the rising stars in this space, and we are very excited to bring BSOL to market — the third staking ETP we’ve launched this year, after our Ethereum and Aptos staking ETPs in February and November, respectively,” said Hunter Horsley, Bitwise co-founder and CEO, in a statement.
In November 2024, Bitwise registered a statutory trust in Delaware for its proposed spot Solana (SOL) ETF. That filing signals the firm’s intent to seek approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Bitwise continues to pursue regulatory clearance for the product.
Matthew Sigel, head of digital asset research at VanEck, has previously suggested that the chances of a U.S. approval for a spot Solana ETF may increase in 2025. In August of this year, Bitwise expanded its European presence by acquiring the crypto-asset issuer ETC Group.
BSOL is the second digital asset product Bitwise has launched in Europe since the acquisition. With this listing, the number of Bitwise products available in the region rose to nine, contributing to a notable increase in assets under management.
Bitwise’s ETP offerings in Europe include a physically-backed Bitcoin ETP that launched in 2020 and an Ethereum staking ETP introduced in early 2024.
