Securitize Raises $48M in Funding Round with Morgan Stanley Group

The digital-asset-focused company secured backing from investors such as Ripple, Ava Labs, and Blockchain Capital during its Series B funding round.

U.S.-based Securitize, a company specializing in digital asset securities, announced yesterday that it completed a Series B funding round, raising $48 million.

The round was led by Morgan Stanley Tactical Value and Blockchain Capital, with participation from existing investors including Ripple, Blockchain Ventures, and SPiCE VC, and new investors such as IDC Ventures and Ava Labs.

Founded in 2017, Securitize aims to reshape private capital markets by using blockchain technology to connect investors and companies seeking to raise capital. Its digital platform streamlines the issuance, management, and secondary trading of digital asset securities.

“Securitize developed incredible partnerships during our Series A round last year, both with major venture capital firms and large financial institutions across Europe and Japan,” said Carlos Domingo, CEO and co-founder of Securitize.

“The fact that they were joined in our Series B by a leading U.S. investment bank and the largest trust bank in Japan, along with other top-tier VCs, demonstrates growing confidence in the adoption of digital assets,” the company added.

Several firms have already used Securitize’s technology. For example, the cryptocurrency wallet provider Exodus employed the platform last month to create a digital representation of its shares, raising $75 million through the offering.

Securitize recently launched Securitize Capital, an asset-management arm, and introduced its first two crypto-yield funds. The company also plans to soon launch Securitize Markets, a marketplace for trading digital asset securities.

“Our initial investment in the blockchain industry is the leader in digital asset securities, Securitize,” said Pedro Teixeira, co-head of the Tactical Value Investing team at Morgan Stanley.

“We make long-term investments in companies and asset classes that have a competitive edge. Our investment in Securitize signals our belief in the growth and adoption of tokenized digital assets,” he added.

Teixeira will join Brad Stephens, co-founder of Blockchain Capital, and Tal Elyashiv, co-founder of SPiCE VC, on Securitize’s board of directors. All Series B investors will receive their Securitize equity in the form of digital asset securities issued on the platform, which now counts more than 300,000 verified investors and has supported over 150 companies in the past four years.
