Miami-based startup 8base has introduced an application development platform that leverages blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) to enable developers and businesses to build and deploy software quickly and without writing code. The platform is designed to streamline development, reduce technical barriers, and automate many routine tasks so teams can focus on product and user experience.
According to the company, the new platform “significantly reduces the amount of effort and technical competency required to build and host applications.” It provides a comprehensive toolset for no-code and low-code development while supporting modern technologies and deployment models.
8base supports both traditional application development and blockchain-native workflows. Developers can choose to deploy applications to 8base’s serverless environment for conventional hosting or persist application logic as smart contracts on supported blockchains, giving teams flexibility in how they deliver and secure their software.
Andrei Anisimov, 8base’s vice president of technology, said the platform addresses gaps in legacy low-code tools that were not designed for today’s technological landscape. He noted that many existing no-code and low-code products were created long before mobile, cloud services like Amazon Web Services, and emergent technologies such as blockchain and AI became mainstream.
“By contrast, 8base was created in and for the era of blockchain, AI, sensors, and other technological advancements that are crucial to the future of businesses — while understanding and leveraging the power of the developer ecosystem at every step of the way.”
Beyond the no-code platform and development tools, 8base is developing the 8base Blockchain—a decentralized network governed and maintained by a global community of developers. This network is intended to foster collaboration, shared ownership, and more resilient application architectures.
The ecosystem will include reputation management that recognizes and rewards contributors. Each developer will receive a reputation score that serves as a trust signal across the network, promoting reliable contributions and collaboration. In addition, the 8base platform will use a token system, called “pieces of eight,” to compensate participants and incentivize value creation within the community.
Founder Albert Santalo emphasized the company’s open approach to building software ecosystems. He argued that no single vendor operating a closed “walled garden” can drive the industry forward alone. Instead, Santalo believes an open, collaborative platform can harness the skills of software authors, contributors, and users to create network effects that accelerate innovation and improve outcomes for all participants.
“We recognize that neither 8base by itself, nor any other software company that follows the ‘walled garden’ approach, can drive this transformation alone. Instead, 8base delivers an open platform that harnesses the power of software authors, contributors, and users into a unified, curated effort. By creating a network effect, software is propelled forward in an unprecedented manner.”
By combining no-code development, blockchain deployment options, AI capabilities, and a community-driven token and reputation system, 8base aims to make modern application development more accessible and collaborative for businesses and developers alike.
